I found a blind spot. That’s the good news. The bad news? It happened, accidentally, last week while I was interviewing for a job at Apple. #TrueStory
During one of my five remote interviews, my phone rang. I’d placed it in silent mode, so there weren’t any rings. Still, the vibrations were a distraction, so I pressed the side button a few times to silence the call and send it to voicemail. Only… I was a bit too enthusiastic about my pressing.
I accidentally set off a chain reaction: loud, warning noises screamed from my iPhone, and an on-screen alert warned me that 911 would be called in 10 seconds. I was presented with a countdown clock to, you know, ensure the maximum possible pressure at the worst possible time.
I shut the alert down quickly and continued my interview. We had a good laugh about it.
More importantly, I got the hint: I’ve been so focused on doing deeper dives into cryptocurrencies, data deletion, and other important privacy/security matters, that I forgot to also give my readers some shorter tips and tricks. I hope today’s member-only episode fixes that.
